Things have been murky regarding the future of the Homefront series after the closing of THQ back in 2013. Today, Crytek revealed the first details on the upcoming sequel to the 2011 shooter.
The story in Homefront: The Revolution continues on 4 years after the invasion and takeover of the United States by North Korea. Players will recruit resistance fighters and utilize guerilla warfare tactics to fight back against the North Korean occupation. The game is said to feature open-world environments based around the area of Philadelphia.
Crytek had originally been developing the sequel for THQ, prior to the publisher dissolving. When the publisher’s properties were sold, Crytek purchased the franchise to preserve the work its team had put into the title. The Homefront sequel is in development at Crytek UK, formerly Free Radical.
