News broke earlier today that Ubisoft’s upcoming holiday games catalogue would not be making its way to Steam in the UK. The fan backlash over the news once again brought a fury of hatred among PC gamers. It would seem though, that as big as the previous news was, this story is still actively developing.
Less than 12 hours after the news broke to much of America, Ubisoft’s big holiday releases including The Crew, Assassin’s Creed Unity, and Far Cry 4 have all been removed from Steam on a now global level. In what may have started over a UK-specific pricing war, may have no escalated into a full fledged battle between Steam and Ubisoft’s own Uplay platform.
Neither side has released a statement at this point, but if the last 12 hours have taught us anything, it’s that this story may not be done just yet. Further complicating matters, Steam has been actively accepting pre-orders for all 3 upcoming games for a good time now, seemingly leaving many gamers in a tough position if tough position if there is no resolution to the dispute.
Stay tuned for more info as it develops.
