In light of the recent controversy over Nintendo’s stance on same sex marriage in their upcoming game, Justin Amirikhani, co-founder of Vagabond Dog has taken to the internet to ask GLAAD a really good question regarding their stance on video games as a whole.
It’s a facinating read and regardless of your stance on the topic does bring up a fantastic point as far as GLADD singling out Nintendo but at the same time not recognizing game developers in the same way they do for other forms of media.
Recently the media monitoring organization, GLAAD made a statement regarding Nintendo’s unfortunate inability to include same-sex couples in their upcoming game Tomodachi Life.
In response, we offer this open letter to GLAAD regarding the difficulties in creating games with inclusive features and offer a suggestion to how they may better the games industry and promote inclusive games through the influence of their annual GLAAD Media Awards.
You can read the entire letter at http://vagabonddog.com/glaad.php.
Vagabond Dog also has a game called Always Sometimes Monsters coming out on May 21st, if you’d like to support what their doing you can pre-order it for 10% off on Steam.
