Creative Director Phil Robb, IGN learned that all DLC maps for Evolve will be available to players free of charge.

According to Robb, giving players free maps means players won’t be booted because they didn’t pay for the DLC.

Robb confirmed that new monsters, hunters, and maps are planned for Evolve’s post-release DLC support. Additionally, players who do not purchase monster or hunter DLC will still be able to fight against the new monsters alongside the new hunters.

“We’ll have characters and monsters, and even if you don’t buy them, if your buddy wants to buy the DLC, that’s cool, and your game will be enhanced through his purchase,” Robb said. “So, you won’t be able to play as those characters, but you will certainly be able to play with those characters.”

Robb finally added that those who pre-ordered the game would receive the first monster DLC for free.

The smartest person on the team, Caira Diaz is also the only person on Shear with any hope of figuring out what the Monsters are, where they come from, and what they want.

Caira is the last medic revealed for the main game. With Caira on your team, you will get to the Monster faster, do more damage, and stay alive longer.

We primarily decided that the title deserves and should have more time to be polished so it can reach its absolute optimal state before we release it,” Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick said on a conference call this afternoon. “Historically, we’ve always benefitted from giving the creative teams more time to polish their titles. We’ve never regretted it. It’s not a meaningful amount of time; the title is still coming out in the fiscal year. We’re really excited about the title. Coming out of E3, where it won best of show, it felt like the right thing to do to make absolutely sure this title could be its very best.

On the bright side, Take-Two and 2K are hoping that a Feb 2015 release will actually work in in their favor as they expect holiday console sales to boost the demand for the game.
