Most racing enthusiasts have given up all hope that Microsoft will allow the Forza Motorsport series to come to PC. Despite Microsoft even holding a big event for DirectX 12 where they showed off how easily they were able to port Forza Motorsport 5 to the PC, releasing the game on PC would likely only hurt their console division in the long run.

Despite console titles being the assumed home for racing games, PC is actually the system of choice for serious motorsports fans. So what are the best alternatives to Forza Motorsport on the PC? Read on to find out our picks.

GameSpy announced earlier this month that they would be ending all hosted services for games, which impacts the online capabilities of a number of older titles, including some from EA.

Since GameSpy’s announcement, our teams have been working to evaluate options to keep services up and running. Unfortunately, due to technical challenges and concerns about the player experience, we do not have a solution at this time. Online services for EA games on the GameSpy platform will be closed down at the end of June.

We know some of these games are still fan favorites, including Battlefield 2, Battlefield 1942, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and Command & Conquer games. We are still investigating community-supported options to preserve online functionality for these titles, such as multiplayer. Significant technical hurdles remain, and at this time we don’t have anything to announce

It’s so sad to see games like Battlefield 2142 and Command & Conquer: Generals lose online support forever. Sure Generals turned into a hack fest due to EA dropping patch support years ago, but you could still find good matches in a game that was arguably among the best 3 RTS games ever made.

Read on for the full list.

Check out the list of PC games that will be losing multiplayer support on June 30th. A few notable classics that have no true replacement like Neverwinter Nights 2, Battlefield 2142, or Command & Conquer: Generals to a certain degree.

After a failed Kickstarter campaign, Bugbear entertainment took their game to Steam Early Access, the rest is history. Next Car Game has become a success in just one week on Steam. In just one short week the Alpha stage game has surpassed $1 million in sales. You can’t deny it’s a huge turnaround for a game that some thought would fall by the wayside once their Kickstarter campaign went unfunded.

Continue reading after the break for the press release from Bugbear entertainment.

We’re very proud to announce that the official Early Access launch of our titular demolition racing game, aptly titled Next Car Game, has been a huge success. The game was officially launched on Steam mid-January, and it instantly took the Steam Top Sellers chart by storm. In total, the game made over $1,000,000 during one week in sales through our own pre-order site and Steam.

This is an amazing success for a racing game, especially considering our tough road to the success. Along the way we pitched the game to numerous publishers in the hopes that the game would eventually get released. Unfortunately we receive the same response all over again – there were no market for a game like ours. Come on, who would want to race and crash with such old beaters? Well, we would! Because of that we didn’t give up, but instead chose to seek crowd-funding on Kickstarter. However, we experienced another setback when our Kickstarter campaign didn’t reach the goal we were aiming for.

However, we still believed in the game, and we decided to release a playable technology sneak peek. We were literally awe-struck by the great response the sneak peek received. The pre-order sales skyrocketed, and we reached and actually topped our original Kickstarter funding goal in just week! And most importantly: the success showed us that the players believed in the game.

The players will also be the ones to benefit the most from the success of the game. Thanks to our awesome fans, we finally have a chance to make the game we always intended and shape it into a definite demolition racing experience the players have been yearning for years. We already have some really great new stuff in the works, and if you have any ideas on what you’d like to see in the game, don’t hesitate to visit our community forum and let us know!

Next Car Game is currently available on Steam and at nextcargame.com

Visit nextcargame.com to download a free technology sneak peek!

The post Next Car Game pull in over $1 million in first week first appeared on Gamecrastinate.

The makers of FlatOut, Bugbear Entertainment, took to Kickstarter in hopes of funding their physics based car smash em up Next Car Game.

With the Kickstarter about half way over and only about a 3rd of the way funded Bugbear really could use the support to make a game that appears to have highly advanced vehicle simulation physics and looks gorgeous.

Did you love the over-the-top, reckless racing action of the FlatOut series? Or the ferocious wrecking fests of the Destruction Derby games? We did too! What if you could somehow relive those glorious moments, mixed with some serious Street Rod inspired vehicle upgrading and spiced up with fierce online races where players can battle it out with their tricked out bangers?

Now THAT would be something.

Over the years, we’ve been thinking about going back to our roots, and creating another high-octane racing game that would capture the spirit of over-the-top action and reckless racing as the legendary games of the past. For years, both Destruction Derby and FlatOutfans have been screaming for a comeback.

Now it’s the time, and we have some pretty exciting news for you. Our next racing game is going to bring those unforgettable moments up-to-date, and the best part of it all is that we want to make it with YOU!

The post Bugbear Entertainment unveils Next Car Game first appeared on Gamecrastinate.
