In an interview with Polygon today, Nordic games revealed that they had purchased the THQ brand and would be publishing games in the future under that moniker.

“It was kind of surprise to some industry veterans and players that we were the winner of the auction of the THQ titles,” Kreuzer said. “The challenging fact is nobody has ever heard about Nordic Games before [the THQ auction]. There were so many articles with the headlines ‘Who the fuck is Nordic Games?’ We said, okay they were right.

“We have seen an uplift in the name of Nordic Games, and what we have also done is we have made a second deal with THQ where we bought the THQ trademark.”

It looks as if THQ has risen from the grave. Nordic games has even begun advertising their upcoming MX vs ATV on the THQ Facebook page.

Readers of Gamecrastinate may recall an article we published last week on how Steam Early Access was the better alternative to Kickstarter campaigns for video games. Well Nordic Games went and threw the standard Kickstarter formula out the window. Just how did they do this? The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 is already funded and set for release!

Watching the above video explains things in pretty great detail, but the abridged version is that they have already secured funding for completion of the game. The Kickstarter campaign is a means to add extra features that would normally be cut due to time or budget constraints. In essence, Nordic Games wants to make the best game possible for the fans.

The best way we can describe this Kickstarter campaign is that Nordic Games is skipping the regular campaign to fund development and just fast forwarding to the stretch goals. Genius right? Why make potential fans pay for a theoretical game that may just piss them off when it doesn’t reach successful funding or the stretch goals some of the fans were hoping for? Nordic games may have cracked the code when it comes to how to nail a video game Kickstarter campaign and we tip our hats to them.

Check out the gallery below to enjoy some preview shots of The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 and be sure to head over to The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 Kickstarter page for more information.
The post The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 – Kickstarter campaigning done correctly first appeared on Gamecrastinate.
