Payday 2 players can look forward to another new update coming to the game in just a few short days. Scheduled for release on December 16th, the Diamond Heist DLC adds a brand new heist, as well as Clover, an addition crew member at your disposal.

Announced today, “The Headless Titandozer From Hell” event will give gamers the opportunity to grab some event-exclusive masks, achievements, and patterns. Additional details (maps and guns?) are set to be announced this coming Wednesday and Thursday as well.

Overkill Software keeps on pumping out the DLC content for their popular heist FPS. This time around though, the team is bringing a certain 1980’s flare with the upcoming Hotline Miami DLC. Announced today, the Hotline Miami DLC is a true collaboration between the two developers.

While the team is tight-lipped at the moment on exactly what the pack will include, it’s been confirmed to include a new heist as well as other new features. It’s probably not much of a stretch to assume players will have access to the chicken mask featured in the trailer above also, but we’ll just have to wait until the end of the month to find out.

Details thus far are sketchy as to what role exactly The Dentist will play in the overall game. From the looks of the  8 minute+ long trailer though, you’ll likely be done some risky jobs for the good doctor.

The Dentist DLC pack is set to release on June 17th. Additional details will be coming during E3, so stay tuned.

OVERKILL went on to explain that the reduction in size is due to a restructuring of how assets were stored and loaded during the games loadout phase. Fans of the game are likely familiar with the way that Steam grinds to a halt every time there is a new Payday 2 patch; hopefully this reduction in size will at least help a little to lessen the time that it takes to get your copy up to date.

If you’ve been slacking, you can grab PAYDAY 2 PC on Amazon.com. It’s highly advisable not to pick this up for consoles though, as this latest update is #28 for PC; the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions are still months behind in content.

Q: How did OVERKILL reduce the size of the game?
A: The content system has been restructured to allow some assets to be loaded during loadout and the blackscreen instead of during the loading screen. This eliminates the need for duplicates between bundle files.

Q: How is ingame performance affected?
Because of the background streaming during loadout, you might notice drop in framerate. The streaming speed can be tweakd by adjusting the size of the streaming chunk size in advanced video options. After loadout and the blackscreen, the performance is not at all affected.

Q: How is loading performance affected?
A: Loading times from lobby/Crime.net to loadout will become shorter.
But since the loading continues into loadout, the total time will be longer than before.

Q: Will the new system be used on console?
A: No final answer yet. We are still working on it. HDD access speeds on PS3 and Xbox 360 are not as good as on PC.

Q: What was wrong with the old system?
A: The old system did not scale up well and we still want to release lots of content. Patching was slow, due to the size of the files and the install size was too much for a lot of systems.

Q: Why do you not compress the data?
A: If we did that then patch sizes would increase dramatically.

Q: How is gameplay affected?
A: Not at all.

Q: Who wins with the new content system?
A: Winners are those who are short of HDD space, slow internet connections, HDD with average-good access times. Moreover, everyone loads faster into loadout.

Q: Can I switch to the old content system?
A: No. The data is optimized for the new system and using the old system with the new data will be terribly slow.

Q: Will you change the patching system for PAYDAY 2?
A: No, we are not in charge of the patching system, Valve is. We make sure to use the latest and most modern option there is. Valve’s patch system is one of the best if not the best there is.

Overkill continues to impress with their post-release updates for Payday 2 in the form of free and paid DLC as well as patches. It goes without saying that the stealth changes will make life a lot more enjoyable for players who like to plan out their heists cleanly and quietly. Currently there is no announced date for these changes to go live but when they do you’ll surely hear about them first on the official Payday 2 Steam Group.

Last week we launched the new Death Wish difficulty. Since then we’ve watched you and your crews tearing up the streets of Washington DC. We’re glad to see that you guys are brave enough to step into the line of fire against these new elite law enforcers. The level of commitment you guys have when it comes to stealing gold, cash and jewelry is impressive and you’ve painted the city red, no doubt.

As you’re probably aware, we at OVERKILL take our jobs seriously. We’ve read your feedback, and we’d like to announce something that’s been in the works for some time: a major stealth update.

Yeah, you read that right. With the help of your feedback, we’ve come up with a plan for all you sneaky bastards out there lurking in the shadows.

Let’s get to the point. Here’s what we’re working on for the upcoming free stealth update:

Moving cable tied civilians

Nothing says “I own you” more than having a controllable hostage. As soon as you’ve subdued and zip tied a civilian, you’ll be able to tell them to follow you around by interacting with them.

Whenever the situation demands it, you can interact with the hostage again and they’ll lie down on the spot.

Stealth Reward System

Enjoy the feeling of walking away as if the crime never happened? We’ve got some good news for you. Finishing a heist in stealth will award you with an EXP boost. That boost will then apply to the next contract you choose; you can spend it on any job, stealthable or not, but only on the next contract. Once you’ve spent it it’s gone.

You can obtain the EXP boost again by completing a heist in stealth at any given time. The stealth bonus stacks through the days, so a full three day successful stealth will be greater than one successful stealth day and one failed, but you’ll still get a bonus.

Everyone gets one body bag by default

The title says it all. Bain heard you like body bags, so he decided to give one to every one of you.

Ghosts get one additional body bag

The Cleaner skill will give The Ghost one additional body bag, two in total.

Ghosts also get the Body Bag Asset

Ever wanted to share your body bags with your crew so you can stealth together? This asset, linked to the Cleaner skill, is perfect for Hitmen and their gang members. With this skill the Ghost will be able to buy a body bag asset which contains three body bags. This asset is placed on a predetermined spot, and will be accessible for everyone in your crew, including yourself.

The Dominator Skill and the new alarm pager operators

Every player with the Dominator skill can now dominate one guard each at the same time. But apparently the old pager operators got fired, and more experienced operators are taking over. So clear your throats, and get ready to answer the pager as soon as you dominate a guard.

We’re balancing the spawning guard patrols

The spawning patrol guards will still appear, but we’re balancing the time interval based on the heist difficulty.
Also, Bain has promised to be more observant regarding the patrols, so he’ll let you know whenever they send in new guards and roughly when they’ll arrive.

A new Spotter Asset will highlight guards

The Spotter is a new stealth asset. He is similar to Ilija the Sniper and stays hidden somewhere off the map, but instead of killing guards and law enforcers, he’ll spot and highlight them for you and your crew.

We’re balancing the amount of guards and civilians on each map and difficulty.

Going forward, we’ll gradually roll out these changes to the stealth system. Let us know what you think of the planned changes above and stay tuned for more information regarding the coming stealth update.

• Return of the Cloaker – Returning from PAYDAY: The Heist, the Cloaker has come to spoil the fun and stop the heist. Good thing Gage has some new goodies for players’ inventory to keep that from happening. The Cloaker is a free update that is added to the game for everyone. He’ll gladly beat you with his baton, free of charge.
• New Weapons – Look at this like a consolation prize for dealing with those pesky Cloakers. Players will now have three light machine guns (along with accompanying modifications) to take down anyone standing in the way of a successful raid. • 4 New Masks – The key to a good heist is the mask — and Gage wants players to be prepared. That’s why he made sure there are four brand new masks to change things up a bit. Choose between Alpha Force, Commander Crime, Gage Blade and the Troubled War Veteran masks.
