In a time of global crisis, an international task force of heroes banded together to restore peace to a war-torn world:

Fans of Blizzard’s games have been hearing the codename “Titan” for what’s going on 7 years now. While most of the news that’s come out of the Titan project has been less than positive in recent years, today’s news might just hit hopeful fans the hardest. In an interview with Polygon today, Blizzards co-founder and CEO Mike Morhaime officially announced the cancellation of the secretive next-gen MMO.

We had created World of Warcraft, and we felt really confident that we knew how to make MMOs,” Morhaime said. “So we set out to make the most ambitious thing that you could possibly imagine. And it didn’t come together.

“We didn’t find the fun,” Morhaime continued. “We didn’t find the passion. We talked about how we put it through a reevaluation period, and actually, what we reevaluated is whether that’s the game we really wanted to be making. The answer is no.”

While Titan’s cancellation might be sad news to many loyal fans, this isn’t Blizzard’s first time cancelling a game that was in the deeper stages of development. Warcraft Adventures and Starcraft: Ghost are just two of Blizzards more widely known games that were announced but later cancelled before release.
The post Blizzard Cancels Titan MMO first appeared on Gamecrastinate.

Over the course of WoW’s nearly 10-year history, raiding has probably undergone more iteration and change than any other game system. To put the upcoming Warlords of Draenor raid changes into proper context, this three-part blog series will attempt to retrace the twists and turns of our raid design philosophy from Molten Core through Siege of Orgrimmar. Veterans will hopefully enjoy the trip down memory lane, and we hope those who discovered raiding later on will gain some insight into how things used to be . . . and why they changed.

Blizzard decided to delay the open beta release of Hearthstone by just a little bit to better prepare for the onslaught of players.

“We believe the right thing to do for the game is to not rush it out into open beta, but to instead hold onto it a little longer to make sure it’s ready for wider testing. At BlizzCon, we mentioned that we hoped to get the game into a state where it’s ready for open beta this month, but we’re just not quite there yet. The development team has been working hard to get this out before the end of the year, but our highest priority is that Hearthstone has an awesome launch when all gates are lifted and everyone can download it and play at the same time.”

Invites have been sent out to anyone that signed up for the beta as of early December and it’s expected Blizzard will do the same again in early January.
The post Hearthstone open beta gets delayed first appeared on Gamecrastinate.

For us Diablo 3 quickly turned into a game about saving gold and buying the best items on the auction house instead of trying to find the best items in dungeons. It’s almost sad that the style of auction house based gameplay seemed to be entirely by design and unfortunately for Blizzard that plan backfired big time.
The post Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls closed beta has officially begun first appeared on Gamecrastinate.

Once again proving that Diablo 2 was better than Diablo 3, Blizzard took to their forums to announce an upcoming ladder reset on the 26th of November. Players still interested in grinding for gear since July of 2000 can participate in the ladder reset by simply logging in and playing after the Battle.net servers come back online on the 26th of this month. Check out the full announcement after the break.

It’s that time again! On the morning of Tuesday, November 26, we’ll be conducting maintenance in order to reset the Diablo II ladder. We anticipate the realms could be down for up to six hours, and during that time all existing ladder characters will be converted to non-ladder. All characters and items being converted to non-ladder will remain intact, but once converted these characters will no longer have access to ladder content such as creating ladder-only rune words.

This ladder reset, like all those before it, creates a clean slate where all ladder characters begin at level 1 with no previous items to help them. To participate, simply wait until the Diablo II realms return to service, log in to Battle.net, and tick the “Ladder Character” checkbox when creating a new character. You can track ladder character leveling progress by clicking on the Ladder button from the main Diablo II in-game Battle.net interface.

For more information on ladder characters please visit the Arreat Summit at http://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/basics/charactertypes.shtml

The post Diablo 2 still getting updates.
