It appears as if Alienware is the least patient of the bunch, as they have announced that their previously announced Steam Machine will now be called the Alpha and will be a regular small form-factor Windows PC. The PC will run a highly customized version of Windows 8.1 with a proprietary front-end and a unique custom Nvidia GPU. Instead of the also delayed Steam controller, the Alpha will ship with an Xbox 360 controller.

Fans across the world are currently sharing their distaste for Ubisoft’s stance under the Twitter hashtag #womenaretoohardtoanimate. In response to concerns, Ubisoft issued the following statement.

We recognize the valid concern around diversity in video game narrative. Assassin’s Creed is developed by a multicultural team of various faiths and beliefs and we hope this attention to diversity is reflected in the settings of our games and our characters.

For a variety of reasons, PC versions tend to look and perform better. Additionally, demoing games for 15 hours straight on a console can lead to some heat issues. By going with the PC version, a developer can ensure a smooth show experience for all parties involved.

It should come as no surprise then that many of the cross-platform games shown at E3 2014 are secretly running on PC. One such example of this practice was Batman: Arkham Knight.

When asked about the platform in which the game was running, Rocksteady’s Dax Ginn confirmed (during Gamespot’s E3 livestream, head over at 4:37:00 mark):

“This is the PC build.”

So there you have it everyone. One of the most anticipated games that amazed pretty much all gamers during Sony’s conference was running on the PC (which means that the console builds may not look or run as sexy as this one).

PC Master Race members will likely remember Microsoft’s Nvidia  GTX powered Xbox One kiosk during last year’s E3. It’s nothing new, but for PC gamers, it’s always slightly pleasing to hear.

Thanks to the Steam description for the game, it would seem that in addition to the upgraded visuals, PC players will have some additional features that the console players may not be getting.

All new content and gameplay created and released since the launch of Grand Theft Auto Online including new Jobs, an arsenal of new weapons, scores of new vehicles, new properties and player customizations will also be available in Grand Theft Auto Online for PC. In addition, the current community of players will have the ability to transfer their Grand Theft Auto Online characters and progression to their choice of PlayStation®4, Xbox One or PC.

Grand Theft Auto V for PC will also feature a video editor designed for advanced movie-making.

There hasn’t been any type of official announcement regarding Steam Workshop or any other type of mod support. Considering how influential mods have been for the GTA IV PC community, hopefully Rockstar gets everything right with GTA V on PC.

Battlefield: Hardline, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare will join the growing list of games that take advantage of AMD’s low-level API.

On June 9 EA announced that three of its upcoming games would support Mantle: Battlefield Hardline, Dragon Age Inquisition and Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare. Each of these brings new features, maps and gameplay to already-popular franchises. If the results we saw with Mantle in Battlefield 4 are anything to go by, these games should absolutely fly on AMD Radeon™ hardware.

The game is set to release on both PC and PS4 some time in the unknown future. It’s safe to say you can expect a lot more of what made the first Magicka so special. In addition, artifacts add a new twist to the sequel that will surely be interesting.
